After the success of New York Bagel Company in Oklahoma City and Stillwater, Pauly Sorrentino and his friend Joe Trizza wanted to expand their already successful, New York Bagel Company to the Tulsa Market.
At the time, Joe Trizza had been working for them since 1989 and decided to partner with the franchise. Joe and Pauly picked a location at 71st and Yale to launch the first one and then followed with their first drive-thru location on Cherry Street.
In 1996 the company went public and in 1999 New York Bagel Company was taken over by Manhattan Bagel. Manhattan’s policy was to go from the fresh made element to frozen bagels.
In 2009 Joe Trizza, along with his brother, Scott, and friend, Pauly Sorrentino, brought back true New York ‘boiled and baked’ bagels when they opened Old School Bagel Cafe on Brookside in Tulsa, OK. They re-created the fresh made bagel and greatly expanded the menu. Old School Bagel now offers fresh hand tossed salad, 6 types of muffins, 12 types of cookies and over 20 varieties of Fresh made Bagels. They are thrilled to bring back so many of the items that people loved from the past as well as adding new variety to the menu.
September 18, 2015, The second Tulsa Area Old School Bagel Cafe opened at 6805 S Yale Ave. This second location ensures South Tulsans won’t have to travel far to enjoy the best bagels in town.
